About Regular Human Insulin

Regular human insulin (Humulin R, Novolin R) is unmodified human insulin produced via recombinant DNA technology. Takes 30-60 minutes to work, peaks at 2-3 hours. Slower than rapid-acting analogs but less expensive.

Research Notes

Standard human insulin since recombinant technology. Less convenient than rapid analogs but much less expensive. Important global access. IV formulation for DKA.
