About Melanotan I (Afamelanotide)

Melanotan I, also known as Afamelanotide, is a synthetic tridecapeptide analog of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone. Unlike Melanotan II, it is more selective for MC1R receptor and causes less effects on appetite and libido. FDA-approved as Scenesse for erythropoietic protoporphyria.

Research Notes

FDA-approved as Scenesse implant for EPP (erythropoietic protoporphyria). Clinical research shows effective photoprotection and reduced phototoxicity reactions.
