About Amylin
Amylin is a 37-amino acid peptide hormone co-secreted with insulin by pancreatic beta cells. It slows gastric emptying, suppresses glucagon, and promotes satiety. Deficient in type 1 diabetes. Pramlintide is synthetic analog.
Research Notes
Natural hormone deficient in T1D. Pramlintide (Symlin) is FDA-approved analog. Cagrilintide (long-acting analog) in development shows enhanced weight loss with GLP-1 agonists.
