About Laronidase

Laronidase (Aldurazyme) is recombinant human alpha-L-iduronidase for enzyme replacement therapy in mucopolysaccharidosis I (MPS I). While technically an enzyme protein, it is peptide-based. FDA-approved for this rare lysosomal storage disease.

Research Notes

FDA-approved in 2003 for MPS I (Hurler syndrome). First ERT for this condition. Significantly improves outcomes but does not cross BBB. Lifelong treatment required.
