About Corticorelin
Corticorelin (Acthrel) is synthetic ovine (sheep) corticotropin-releasing hormone used diagnostically. It stimulates ACTH release from the pituitary, which then stimulates cortisol. Used to differentiate causes of ACTH-dependent Cushings syndrome.
Research Notes
FDA-approved for diagnostic use in Cushings syndrome. Helps differentiate pituitary from ectopic ACTH production. Specialized endocrinology test.
