About Enfuvirtide
Enfuvirtide (Fuzeon, T-20) is a synthetic 36-amino acid peptide that inhibits HIV-1 fusion with CD4+ cells by binding to the gp41 envelope protein. First fusion inhibitor approved for HIV treatment, used in treatment-experienced patients.
Research Notes
FDA-approved in 2003 as first HIV fusion inhibitor. Effective in treatment-experienced patients with resistant virus. High rate of injection site reactions limits use.
